THE CRIMINAL ENFORCEMENT PHASE IN PANAMA: Legal analysis and institutional perspective

The present work was developed from a theoretical review of the process of execution of the sentence in Panama; also, from a compilation of the national and conventional legislation related to the matter.With this research, we have carried out a systematic study of the entire procedure of the penalty execution phase.The phase of execution of the sentence consists of complying with the decisions contained in the conviction, both with regard to the criminal sanction and the accessory penalties or security measures, without disregarding the rights of the convicted person, in accordance with international norms, including international guidelines on human rights. Likewise, this phase includes the resolution of the requests made by the convicted persons, related to alternative penalties to deprivation of liberty; that is, home detention and community work, and the granting of penal subrogation and probation, among others of importance.
