Bol Piazza Francia, Florence, 1970. Beppe and his friends are fifteen years old, with their whole lives ahead of them. The square is their world: a makeshift soccer field, a place to meet and argue, a refuge where friendships are formed that seem destined to last forever. But time rarely keeps the promises of youth. As the boys grow up, they go their separate ways, facing illness, accidents, separation, and untimely deaths. Beppe, too, must endure an ordeal that forever changes his relationship with his body, his independence, and his future. Little by little, that once-happy square seems to become the source of a mysterious curse. Many years later, Beppe returns to Piazza Francia and finds cars, taxis, and charging stations. No trace remains of the boys who once gathered there. Yet all he has to do is close his eyes, and their voices fill the square once more as the soccer ball rolls across the asphalt again. The Curse of Piazza Francia is a nostalgic and poignant story of friendship transformed by time: a journey through memories, misfortune, and absence, in search of what endures when almost everything seems lost.
