Ancercy is the fatal disease spread to mankind when they sleep with daemons.While the south of an otherwise unremarkable kingdom becomes embroiled in an epidemic of this foul affliction, and those within seek the desperate cure, there are those without who are working to hasten the spread of ancercy. And with the mayor's son starting to be turned away from parlour doors, even the queen has taken time from her daughter's baptism to attend to the matter; a baptism through which the future of this very kingdom will be told in smoke and water. A future at whim to the designs of witchers and the commands of clergy - a kingdom of ambitious men. But not one made without the decisions of three women in particular: the magister, the whore and the princess... the daughters of God.
