The DEAD WOMAN'S VOICE: True Story of Reincarnation, a Past Life, and Mystery That Challenged Science

She was declared dead. Minutes later, she opened her eyes-and said she was someone else.In July 1985, in a rural village in northern India, a young mother named Sumitra suddenly collapsed at her home. Her breathing stopped. Her pulse could no longer be detected, and the local healer declared her dead. Her family began preparing her body for cremation. Then something happened that would change two families forever.Sumitra came back. But she did not return as the woman everyone knew. She insisted that her name was Shiva-a woman from another village who had died under suspicious circumstances only weeks earlier. She claimed to remember Shiva's home, family, relationships, and the events surrounding her death. Then came the photograph album. When a man connected to Shiva's family arrived to investigate the claims, Sumitra was shown photographs of people she was not supposed to know. Some she recognized. Others she did not. And when she reached one particular photograph, the encounter took an even darker turn. What followed was an investigation involving families, witnesses, researchers, photographs, handwriting, conflicting memories, and competing explanations. Was Sumitra remembering another life?Or was something else happening-something that psychology, cultural influence, memory, and human suggestion might explain? The Dead Woman's Voice tells the story from both sides. It examines the evidence that has made this case fascinating to reincarnation researchers, while also examining the skeptical explanations and methodological questions that challenge the reincarnation interpretation. This is not a book that asks you to believe. It asks you to look closely. Two women. Two families. Two lives separated by death. And one question that refuses to disappear: Who was speaking when Sumitra said, "I am Shiva"?
