The Department of Quiet Men: A Selena Mercer Novella

Some cities bury their dead. Stockholm buries the truth.Selena Mercer's first case with the Dusterville Police Department begins with a missing woman. Then the files disappear. The witnesses go quiet. And her own department starts pushing back. The deeper Mercer digs, the clearer it becomes that Della March is not the first woman to vanish-and that the people responsible have spent years protected by fear, corruption, and the silence of men who know exactly when to look the other way. Following the trail from a forgotten payphone to the Frost Bite lounge and into the darkest corners of Dusterville, Mercer finds herself surrounded by suspects, compromised officers, and a department more interested in protecting itself than finding the truth. But Mercer has never been especially good at letting things go.In Dusterville, silence isn't just how corruption survives. It's department policy. The Department of Quiet Men is a hard-boiled Selena Mercer noir and a standalone companion story set in the world of Stockholm City.
