The Digital Reality of Labor

In the era of digitalization, work is taking on new forms that go beyond the traditional employment model. Platform employment, a phenomenon that is actively developing in the global economy, necessitates the revision of established legal approaches to the notion of "employee", "employer" and "labor relations". This collection is an analytical study of the legal nature of platform labor, with a focus on the challenges facing national legal systems, including the experience of the Republic of Kazakhstan in comparison with international practice. Special attention is paid to the issues of legal classification of employment, social protection of performers, algorithmic control, as well as legislative uncertainty in the gig economy.
