This work aims to contribute to the debate on the current Brazilian inflation control system. The main feature of the Inflation Targeting Regime, in addition to setting targets for the inflation rate, is a single way of combating price increases - a monetary policy of restricting aggregate demand by manipulating the base interest rate. In this sense, this work aims to analyse the Inflation Targeting Regime in the Brazilian economy, presenting its main assumptions and reassessing the causes of inflation.
