In a small town somewhere in Pennsylvania, Milton spends an unexcited old age. Because the widower is becoming increasingly odd, his comments at community meetings are rarely taken seriously. When a UFO crash lands in Milton's flowerbed one night, nobody wants to believe the old man - not the emergency services, not the cashier at the supermarket and certainly not the local council. Nevertheless, Milton takes the extraterrestrial visitor with a penchant for apples into his home. Milton's slightly quirky neighbors Sandy and Joyce soon discover the unusual roommate with the understanding eyes and take him straight to their hearts. Complicity becomes companionship - and neighbors become friends... until the government gets involved and starts looking for the alien.
