Significance of the StudyThis research study provides up-to-date information documenting the attitudes and beliefs of teachers regarding the value of computer-based technology within a specific rural school district in the State of Maine. This study verified statistically significant factors that help facilitate the successful diffusion of technology into classroom instruction within their school district. In addition, the study identified many barriers that impeded the diffusion process. Furthermore, this study brought together members of a specific learning community to develop a better understanding of the complex relationship between teacher attitudes and beliefs, demographics, various social factors, and the current/future classroom practices in regard to the use of computer-based technology in classroom instruction.
