The Effected: 1

One hundred people AND a small blue cube fused to the back of the hand.Marcus Kell was a father, a husband, an ordinary man who failed physics in college. Then something impossible attached itself to his skin and began draining into him, drop by iridescent drop.By Monday, needles bent against his skin. By Wednesday, he was writing equations in a language that didn't exist. By the weekend, he could hear ninety-nine other minds across the planet and sense a consciousness waiting just beyond the edge of reality. The world called them a threat. The soldiers came at dawn and beneath a desert in New Mexico, a hundred changed strangers uncovered the truth the cubes were made to deliver: they were never the event. They were the invitation. They didn't ask to be chosen because the universe didn't ask permission. The Effected is a story about waking up as something the world isn't ready for, and the violence of being feared for what you never chose.
