Exile takes her from Germany to England, from intellectual circles to dangerous clandestine work, from hope to sacrifice.Inspired by true events, The Europeanist is a historical novel about resistance, identity, courage, and the dream of a united Europe before that dream had a name. Through the life of Hilde Meisel, also known as Hilda Monte, Ugo Giuliani tells the story of a woman who fought not only against Nazism, but against the idea that Europe should belong to borders, hatred, and fear. This is the story of a woman who carried many names, crossed many frontiers, and gave everything for a future she would never see.
