This work explores the possibility of making the functions of poetic language-reflexivity and transitivity-more flexible through the information conveyed to these functions by various types of metaphors and the transformational shift that emerges at this level-actantial markers-which are capable of revealing three additional new functions of poetic language in modern poetry: Intransitivity, Indirect Transitivity, and Direct Transitivity. Added to this is the formal morphosyntactic framework that provides a basis for the formal stylistic framework, constituting an extension of grammar to the stylistic level.
