The Fortune Youth

"The Fortune Youth" is a charming and spirited tale of ambition, destiny, and the power of self-belief. The story follows the remarkable journey of Paul Kegworthy, a young boy born into the bleak poverty of a London slum. Despite his humble surroundings, Paul is possessed by an unshakeable conviction that he is of noble birth and destined for greatness. Renaming himself Paul Savelli, he sets out to conquer the world with nothing but his wit, good looks, and an indomitable spirit. As Paul navigates the complexities of British society, his adventures take him from the stage to the heights of political influence. Throughout his meteoric rise, he encounters a cast of vibrant characters and faces the challenges of maintaining his romantic ideals in a pragmatic world. William J. Locke's narrative is infused with his signature optimism and whimsical grace, exploring themes of identity and the pursuit of one's dreams. "The Fortune Youth" remains a classic example of early 20th-century romantic fiction, offering readers an uplifting exploration of how a sense of purpose and a touch of imagination can transform a life. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
