This book, a collection of articles, examines the situation of poor governance endured by the people of Chad since 1990, when Mr Idriss Deby came to power. These reflections and opinions are presented through the critical lens of a human rights defender. The policies pursued by Idriss Deby in Chad are laid bare in these articles, which leave no room for taboos. Reading the book, one discovers a poorly governed country, a people tormented by a head of state concerned solely with preserving and consolidating his power, who, over time, has made his relatives the masters and the rest of the Chadian people their servants. The President's relatives, who are placed at the head of all the country's financial institutions, embezzle public funds by investing them in the mafia-like networks of international trade or by stashing them away in tax havens. The repressive nature of Idriss Déby's political regime, which, whilst systematically banning all peaceful marches, does not hesitate to brutally suppress those who defy these unjustified bans. The policies of African leaders at the level of continental institutions.
