The Gift of Tongues

At the beginning of the twentieth century, the fire of charisma rekindled in the Protestant community in Topeka, Kansas. Pastor Charles Parham transformed his unfinished home into a Bible school, where supernatural gifts emerged with irresistible power. Catholic students experienced a similar blessing during the famous Duquesne Weekend in 1967. Today, the Catholic Charismatic Renewal is officially present in over 220 countries. Is the contemporary experience of praying in tongues the same as the one spoken of in the Bible? How has the gift of tongues manifested throughout the centuries of church history? What do psychologists and neurologists say? And how does praying in tongues change people's lives? The author of this book addresses these questions in two ways: He cites the research of biblical scholars, theologians, and church historians, and he shares moving testimonies of people who have discovered the depths of God's love by opening themselves to the world of charisms.
