The Great Indiana Blackout: Build Damn Ark,Mike

When a violent storm tears through Northwest Indiana, the lights go out - and so do Kim Zamparell's air conditioning, well pump, clean laundry, personal space, and last remaining shred of dignity. For nine sweltering days, Kim tries to survive a powerless homestead with two children, dogs, chickens, Myasthenia Gravis, menopausal heat, and her husband Mike - better known during emergencies as the Angry Elf.There are gas-station Hunger Games, handwashed underwear, pool-water toilet flushes, frogs, spiders, mosquitoes, suspicious smells, fallen trees, a broken float, and a swamp monster with questionable intentions. The children produce enough "boards" to supply a lumberyard, yet Mike still refuses to build the damn ark.Told with heart, honesty, and absolutely no filter, this hilarious true story celebrates family chaos, chronic-illness grit, generous neighbors, hardworking linemen, and the life-saving power of laughing when everything else has gone dark.
