Huang Binhong (1865-1955), originally named Maozhi, later renamed Zhi, with the courtesy name Pucun and art name Binhong, also known by the sobriquet Yuxiang, was a native of She County, Huizhou, Anhui Province, but was born in Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province. He was a modern Chinese painter, renowned for his landscape paintings, and is considered a master of landscape art in his generation. Huang Binhong was also a calligrapher, regarded as one of the "Four Great Masters of Literati Calligraphy in the 20th Century," together with Bai Jiao, Gao Ershi, and Li Zhimin.The author of this biography spent two years gathering materials from various sources and conducting field interviews to complete this work.
