With scriptural and other literary references and quotations this collection can be seen as both literary and evangelistic whilst presenting a Christian testimony and witness in an original form. Major themes running through the Old and New Testaments receive fresh insights in a sometimes philosophical and sometimes playful way. The first poem starts with a quotation from the Book of Ecclesiastes and sets a pessimistic tone but throughout the collection there is a resolution of conflict by the birth, teachings, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The author’s personal experiences on his spiritual journey make their appearances in the art, architecture, history, literature and landscape of Spain and include references to the Pilgrimage of St James to Santiago de Compostela. The collection finishes on an optimistic note about the end of the journey, whether pilgrimage or the Christian life.
