Eight-year-old Ada discovers a blue-green stone scarab hidden in her great-grandfather's old biscuit tin. When she reads its hieroglyphs the wrong way, her ordinary hallway transforms into an ancient Egyptian village. Guided by a young boy named Kenna, Ada learns how hieroglyphs are read, how ordinary Egyptians lived-and why preserving a person's name matters. Returning home with the scarab, she must confront a difficult question: who did it belong to, and how did it end up in her family's cupboard?
