But by touching the forbidden artifact, Blake accidentally awakens a primordial, cosmic entity that has slumbered in the absolute blackness of the church's steeple since the dawn of time. This monstrous shadow-being can only move in total darkness; the mere touch of city light burns it, keeping it trapped inside the stone walls. But as a series of violent summer storms threatens to plunge the entire city into a massive blackout, Blake realizes with mounting horror that the creature is preparing to leave its lair.
