The Healing of Me

"I never intended for these words to see the light of day. They were written for myself, to help me organise my thoughts and feelings as I navigated my challenges in this world. From my early writings as a 16-year-old, trying to find my place in the world came Stone, the lack of self esteem and feeling of belonging evident in each line as I never really felt like I belonged. After a prolific period of writing during my years of teenage angst, I wrote infrequently in my 20s and 30s. It wasn't until three years ago that I rediscovered my early work and something deep inside needed to be set down in words. Since then, I write nearly every day, reflecting on darker periods of my life dealing with depression and lack of agency. More recently I have been writing about finding my way back from abyss with words about my healing and rediscovery of myself. "The Healing of Me explores themes of breakthroughs, mindfulness and selfcare from Isle of Wight based poet Lisa Scovell-Strickland. Taking the reader on a journey from the rising of the phoenix to finding happiness and learning self care. This third collection charts the progress of the author as she learns to become comfortable in her own skin and heal.
