The Hearthfire

A cozy fantasy of found family and new beginnings.Ragna Threadscar spent most of her life learning how to survive. Now she has to learn how to live. After years as a shield-maiden, Ragna is ready to leave violence behind. When she inherits an old alehouse in the coastal village of Saltfen, she expects hard work, quiet days, and-if she's lucky-a little peace. She does not expect three children who desperately need somewhere to belong.Solveig is thirteen, fiercely capable, and far too accustomed to taking care of everyone but herself. Einar is nine, endlessly talkative, endlessly curious, and determined to make himself useful. And six-year-old Runa speaks little, watches everything, and draws things she shouldn't possibly know. Then there's the hearth. Its fire never quite goes out. Its warmth reaches farther than it should. And as Ragna begins repairing the neglected alehouse, brewing mead, feeding neighbors, and making room for three children she never planned to raise, the old magic within the Hearthfire begins to wake. But building a home is harder than winning a battle.Through changing seasons, village festivals, unexpected friendships, old rivalries, and the everyday disasters of running an alehouse, Ragna slowly discovers that strength isn't only measured by what you can endure. Sometimes it means opening the door. Accepting help. Letting people stay. And realizing that somewhere along the way, the strangers beneath your roof have become your family.Because some homes aren't inherited. They're built-one meal, one fire, and one act of kindness at a time. The Hearthfire is a warm, Norse-inspired cozy fantasy filled with gentle magic, found family, community, healing, and second chances. Perfect for readers who want comforting fantasy where the greatest victories aren't won with a sword, but around a table with people who finally have somewhere to call home.
