The Hemerodromo: Prelude to death

This is the untold story of Philippides, the legendary long-distance runner whose nearly forgotten profession was that of a hemerodromos-a messenger entrusted with carrying vital dispatches between the cities and regions of ancient Attica. It is the story of his life, his tragedy, and the extraordinary feat that made him one of the most enduring figures of classical antiquity. The unflinching intensity of its events, its relentless tension, and its epic, deeply cinematic conclusion elevate this work far beyond the boundaries of a conventional historical novel. It is, above all, a profoundly human story in which duty, sacrifice, and endurance drive its protagonist to the very limits of human possibility. For that reason, it possesses a rare combination of qualities: genuine literary and emotional depth, together with undeniable commercial appeal, capable of captivating both devoted readers of historical fiction and a broad mainstream audience.
