The history of the production of weapons (= armaments industry) is just as long as the history of mankind. When the time of paradisiacal propertylessness had passed, war became the means of acquiring or defending property and power by force. Since then, the terms "weapons, weapons systems, command support systems, military vehicles, electronics, drones, nuclear warheads, cruise missiles, robotic technology for military purposes and the so-called war of the stars" have become inextricably linked with the concept of armed forces, peacekeeping and war. This study is an attempt to tell the history of the armaments industry in the world from its beginnings to the present day in a condensed form. This makes it the first reference work not only on the arms industry, but also on the armament and equipment of armed forces as such. The author only included those countries in the book that had or still have a significant arms industry.
