When a crate containing a peregrine falcon arrives at the Hardy home without explanation, Frank and Joe are thrust into a high-stakes adventure. The bird is soon targeted by a thief, and its first flight brings down a carrier pigeon bearing valuable rubies instead of a message. These strange events lead the teenage detectives to a sinister smuggling ring operating along the coast, where illegal aliens and precious gems are being moved in secret. Working with an emissary from India, the brothers discover that a young prince has been kidnapped and is being held for ransom.
