the HUMAN RIGHT TO A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT: Perspective from Bolivian Government

The human right to a healthy environment has established itself as one of the most important legal achievements of contemporary constitutionalism. In a global context characterized by increasing environmental degradation, the international community has recognized that the protection of the natural environment is not merely a matter of public policy, but a true fundamental right inherent to human dignity. This recognition has been decisively driven by the United Nations, which has established international standards aimed at guaranteeing access to a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment. At the national level, the Political Constitution of the State expressly incorporates this right, granting it constitutional status and linking it to fundamental principles such as "Living Well" and respect for Mother Earth.
