the Katupi: From Expeditions of Rook and Wren

In the first adventure from The Expeditions of Rook and Wren, young evolutionary ecologist Elias Rook sets out to protect a hidden region of New Guinea before roads, surveyors, and palm-oil interests reach it. His only evidence is a lost journal, a drawing of an unknown frog, and the belief that some wild places are safest when the world does not yet know their names. To get there, Rook must rely on Professor Augustus Wren, a brilliant and disgraced old field man whose hunger for vindication may be as dangerous as the forces threatening the forest. Guided by the wary Bosai, the two men travel beyond the last village of the known world and into a valley where science, myth, memory, and survival begin to blur. What they find there will test not only what they believe about nature, discovery, and conservation, but what kind of men they are willing to become when wonder itself asks to remain hidden. The Katupi is a jungle adventure about ambition, restraint, and the terrible question of what true conservation is.
