The Last Contract: Kuwait

Nate Priest and Shirin Vaziri go to Kuwait believing it is the safe contract - a stable ally, a well-funded development project, nothing like the compound outside Basra that nearly cost them everything. They are wrong before they ever land. A fatwa follows them across the border, issued by a network they thought they had already beaten. What begins as a routine security assessment for a $3.3 billion economic zone becomes a slow unraveling of compromised guards, a border crossing running on corruption a decade deep, and a coordinator built carefully, deliberately, over a decade, from a nineteen-year-old's fear during Iraq's darkest year. As the investigation closes in, the danger stops being abstract, and the cost of finishing what they started turns out to be higher than either of them ever let themselves imagine. The Last Contract is the third novel in The Contractor series, written by a former Army counterintelligence officer and military K-9 contractor who has actually stood the ground he writes about.
