When its light awakens ancient powers, Kael is thrust into a dangerous quest across a world consumed by living shadows, where forgotten kingdoms, ruined temples, colossal guardians, dragons, and the last surviving Flame Keepers reveal the truth behind Evernight. Alongside loyal companions, he gathers the scattered Embers of Creation, learning that the First Flame was never destroyed but deliberately divided to imprison an ancient force known as the Hollow King, whose escape threatens to erase light, memory, and hope forever. As darkness spreads across every kingdom and the final battle approaches, Kael embraces his destiny as the last Flamebearer, sacrificing everything to reunite the sacred embers and reignite the First Flame.
