The Legacy of HarlemLIVE tells the story of a youth-led journalism and technology program founded in East Harlem in 1996, long before social media reshaped publishing. What began at kitchen tables in the Wagner Houses grew into an internationally recognized newsroom where teenagers held real editorial control, covered their communities, and learned by doing.Over fifteen years, HarlemLIVE engaged hundreds of young people, earned national recognition, and was honored internationally, including at Stockholm's Great Hall. Alumni went on to careers in technology, education, media, business, public service, and the arts.
