Bol St. Brigid of Kildare is consistently among the most popular saints of Ireland. Cruachan Hill Press's Life of St. Brigid of Kildare contains not only her classic vita by Cogitosus, but a wealth of supplemental literature as well. Includes two poems, a medieval homily, andan original essay answering the misguided but regrettably common assertion that Brigid was a pagan goddess. Phillip Campbell's introduction situates her life in the context of 5th-6th century Ireland, examining her legacy in light of overall development of Irish Christianity. Serious students of Irish history and pious Catholics interested in hagiography will both find something to enjoy in this book.
