The Long Way Back

Dale Pruitt thought the email was a mistake.A dead man offering four hundred dollars to drive a car from Omaha to West Virginia doesn't make sense-especially when the sender is someone Dale hasn't seen in years. Someone tied to the worst moment of his life. But he's not the only one who received the message.Diane Salcedo has spent years keeping a secret buried-and paying the price to keep it that way.Marco Reyes never forgot what was taken from his family. And he never forgave the man responsible. Now, the three of them-strangers bound by a shared past-find themselves on a seventeen-hour drive across the country in a car that belongs to a man who's already dead.As the miles pass, silence gives way to suspicion... and then to something deeper. Because Raymond Conover didn't just bring them together. He left something behind. And whatever waits at the end of the road may not bring the closure any of them expect. The Long Way Back is a haunting, character-driven novel about guilt, truth, and the uneasy space between justice and forgiveness.
