The Map Beyond Sea: Book IV of Nine Oaths: 4

Beyond the northern seas, a map suggests that the mystery began far outside Rome-and that every culture has preserved only part of the truth. The mysteries of the House of Tides were never confined to Orkney. Now a young man, Einar follows the evidence east towards Constantinople, the great city the Norse call Miklagarðr. He expects answers about the Nine Marks and the order that guarded them. Instead, he finds competing archives, mistranslated names, broken routes and records that point still farther beyond the sea. There he encounters Shen, a former military administrator whose discipline is matched by his willingness to say "I don't know," and Yue, a traveller and scholar who trusts comparison only when it survives verification. Their knowledge challenges the Roman story Einar has inherited-but resemblance is not proof, and transmission is not origin. While Einar learns to test connections across languages and centuries, distance changes the friendships he left behind. Sigurd must act without him. Aila faces choices that evidence alone cannot settle. Fionn moves through networks where information is traded like cargo, and every route has an owner. The Map Beyond the Sea opens the world of The Nine Oaths into a sweeping historical-fantasy journey through medieval trade, diplomacy and contested memory-where the most seductive answer may be the one that connects too much.
