The Mâr Chronicles-The Chronicles, Book 2

It was quite a shock for Kansas-born Nikka Lindstrom to discover that she is not, in fact, a very odd 18-year-old woman, but one of the Mâren, an all-female semiaquatic people who have long been living hidden among humankind. Are the Mâren the basis for the Mermaid Myth? Who knows? More to the point, who cares? The Mâren's hidden status is under threat. Heedless of the Mâren's Law of Concealment, mâr renegades have increasingly been playing dirty tricks on "drylanders," and ubiquitous surveillance technologies have been capturing more and more mâren unawares on camera.Nikka may soon wonder whether the time has come for the Maren to swim up from the oceans' depths and take their rightful place among Earth's other peoples. However, unbeknownst to everyone but a vengeful mâr and a mad scientist, the greatest threat ever to humankind's future is set to be unleashed.
