The new aesthetic of emptiness marks a clear break with the traditional conception of Black African art. It draws inspiration from the postmodern condition of knowledge. It is simply a matter of deconstruction, dehistoricization, and the abolition of the cultural values of Black African art. So, does the rejection of all African cultural values not lead to the legitimization of a fantastical vision of African art? In the axiological repertoire of recent civilizations, there exists a disdain for the old, which is treated as outdated. Hence, the question of whether respect for traditional values constitutes regression or progress.
