This monograph, based on the author's doctoral research, analyses the constitutional and legal issues surrounding the formation and development of Kazakhstan's political system. Particular attention is paid to the constitutional mechanism of power - as the foundation of Kazakhstan's political system - and to civil society institutions as factors determining the key parameters of the country's socio-economic and political development. The author examines the contemporary political system as an evolving phenomenon and substantiates a number of conclusions and proposals designed to steer this development in a more constructive direction and avoid serious risks of socio-political destabilisation. The monograph provides a comprehensive analysis of the political system of contemporary Kazakhstan from the perspective of both general political systems theory and a wide range of empirical evidence. For undergraduates, postgraduates, lecturers and anyone interested in political sciences and the history of Kazakhstan.
