Bol According to the World Bank, Madagascar currently welcomes an average of 200,000 tourists per year. This activity contributes to the country's economic development and showcases the potential of the island to the world. The island is endowed with natural and cultural riches. In the context of cultural tourism, community-based tourism and, in particular, ethnotourism, Madagascar remains largely untapped. We conducted our research in Ankarafantsika, as ethnotourism within its fokontany communities is one of the key drivers of local participation in both tourism and income-generating activities. In this context, this is seen as the integration of ethnic groups as key players in tourism. This activity is seen as contributing to sustainable tourism, as well as to the fulfilment and sustainable development of the community. However, the cultural and socio-economic impacts of ethnotourism present significant challenges, particularly in terms of upholding the principles of social equity set out in the Lanzarote Charter.
