'The Profile of the Osteopathic Patient 2010' describes the 'typical' osteopathy patient using the example of three different osteopathic practices. In all three practices, a pattern emerges of a self-reliant patient who, after a relatively long period of suffering, found their way to an osteopath. Patients with orthopaedic complaints tend to visit both physiotherapists and GPs, whilst those with craniomandibular problems, sudden hearing loss or tinnitus tend to visit dentists. What most of them have in common is that they want to be free of pain. This study demonstrates, in a striking and illustrative way, how public acceptance of osteopathy was already growing steadily as early as 2010.
