The Race for Healing: When survival becomes necessary before healing comes

In The Race for Healing, Makombe takes readers through a deeply personal journey of buried grief, faith, forgiveness, family, disappointment, and rebuilding. Along the way, he explores what he calls Reality Reset-learning to separate what actually happened from the beliefs pain taught us about ourselves, other people, and the future. This is not a formula for forgetting trauma or pretending pain never happened. It is an invitation to recognize survival for what it was, while discovering that you do not have to build your entire future around the wounds of your past. Rooted in Christian faith and enriched by insights from psychology and history, The Race for Healing speaks to anyone who has survived grief, trauma, rejection, poverty, war, family breakdown, betrayal, or a season that changed the way they see life. Survival kept you alive. Healing can teach you how to live. My first race was away from death. My race now is toward life.
