Sierra Leone has made significant strides in its democratic consolidation over time, with support from diverse players and limited ability to sustain these efforts, leading one to question the effectiveness of these contributions. Civil society has been one of the longest-standing and key players in such contributions, but its efforts have been marred by limited donor funding and by the proliferation of political actors in the space, supporting and/or challenging specific political systems. Informed by the need to support democratic consolidation, the overall aim of this research is to examine the role of civil society in Sierra Leone's democratic consolidation.
