the Role of Seed Banks in Conservation Forest Biodiversity

Seed banks are vital for the conservation of forest biodiversity, serving as a strategic tool to preserve genetic resources amid increasing environmental challenges. Biodiversity offers significant ecological, economic, and social benefits, but is threatened by species invasion, extinction, habitat destruction, and climate change. Seed banks help by collecting, storing, and preserving seeds from various species, ensuring their future use in restoration efforts. Techniques like cryopreservation, desiccation, and vitrification offer long-term solutions to maintain seed viability. Despite their importance, seed banks face logistical, human, and political challenges. Improving infrastructure, fostering international cooperation, and increasing community involvement are essential for enhancing conservation effectiveness.
