The Scarlet Cloaks: Brothers In Blue: 11

Before they became an order, they were eight broken men and a promise.Disgraced former Scarlet Cloak Godwine possesses no title, no command and no future worth mentioning. All he has is a cheap blue cloak-and the belief that no traveller should face the road alone. When a stranded merchant family is threatened by a ruthless road gang, Godwine's defiance draws a handful of veterans, deserters and failed guards to his side. Together, they establish the Blue Cloaks: an order sworn to protect ordinary travellers wherever soldiers, lords and kings refuse to act.Their promise will be tested by brutal outlaws, deadly winter storms, missing coaches and a powerful lord who claims ownership of the King's Road. As their stations spread across the kingdom, the Blue Cloaks attract grateful travellers-and dangerous enemies.Soon, every road is closed. Their stations are burning. An army of iron-masked mercenaries is hunting anyone who wears blue.Outnumbered and condemned as outlaws, Godwine and his brothers must prove that honour does not come from a royal title, a noble birth or the colour a man once wore.It comes from who remains when everyone else has fled.Gritty, character-driven and filled with hard-fought battles, dry humour and fierce loyalty, Brothers in Blue reveals the origins of the Blue Cloaks and the promise that transformed a disgraced warrior into the defender of every forgotten road.
