The Scarlet Cloaks: When Darkness Calls: 4

The fires are going out across Westerfold. From the mountain ravines come the Namarra-powerful nocturnal raiders whose mineral-veined skin blazes with colour in battle. They strike between dusk and dawn, extinguishing watchfires, overwhelming isolated forts and carrying away grain, livestock, iron and skilled captives.Yet these are no ordinary raids.Under the command of Kharza Veyr, the First Raider, captured villages are disappearing beneath vast frameworks of timber and black cloth. Protected from the sun, Namarra families are settling inside them. Their goal is nothing less than the conquest of an entire fertile province beneath a permanent roof. With Wulfgar gone, Leofric must lead the rebuilt Scarlet Cloaks against an enemy that owns the night. Beside him stand veteran knights, formidable sorcerers and the fearless halflings of the Greenbarrow Company.Outnumbered and hunted through the darkness, the defenders have only one true weapon: Dawn.Yet Kharza is building a kingdom where dawn may never reach. When Darkness Calls is the fourth volume in The Scarlet Cloaks, a gritty heroic fantasy series of brutal warfare, desperate courage and defiance against overwhelming odds.
