Success in sports is a multifaceted phenomenon influenced by the interaction of several factors. While physical fitness is fundamental for athletic performance, it alone does not ensure success. Psychological characteristics, anthropometric measurements, and physiological capacities also play an important role, collectively affecting an athlete's competitive performance. In weightlifting, where strength, power, and technique are critical, these variables become even more significant. The present study focuses on state-level Indian weightlifters and examines how different performance-related variables contribute to success in the sport. Understanding these factors can assist coaches, trainers, and athletes in developing more effective training programs and improving competitive outcomes. The primary objective of this study was to identify and assess selected anthropometric, physical fitness, physiological, and psychological variables that may predict weightlifting performance and determine which of these variables significantly contribute to success in the sport.
