Science teaching in primary schools has recently gained new momentum, thanks to the Science and Technology Renewal Plan, but also through the 'La main à la pâte' foundation, which promotes the adoption of a scientific inquiry approach. A rigorous problem-solving methodology, this approach aims to equip pupils with a 'scientific attitude' and leads them to construct reasoning based on observation, experimentation and analysis. The implementation of two investigative approaches in Year 1 classrooms has highlighted the cognitive gains made by pupils in terms of methodological and linguistic skills, namely: the construction of logical reasoning, the structuring of knowledge, and the development of analytical and reflective abilities.
