The vast amount of World War II material to be found in the Public Record Office, particularly among the records of the Cabinet Office, the Foreign Office and the three Service Departments, is analyzed and illustrated in this guide. It describes the classes of the records and places them in their administrative context, indicating the offices held by the leading ministers, service chiefs and officials involved. The appendices include material about documents relating to war crimes and to the preparation of the series of Official War Histories, also published by HMSO.
