the shortcomings of policy to support young people in entrepreneurship: Some possible answers

This book highlights the factors explaining the limited access to institutional funding for young entrepreneurs in Côte d'Ivoire. To this end, we conducted individual interviews - using a qualitative approach - with young entrepreneurs whose funding applications had been rejected, young recipients of funding, and managers of social funds, the National Solidarity Fund (FNS) and the National Youth Fund (FNJ). Our findings indicate that the 'exclusionary' nature of the institutional funding mechanism and the lack of a policy on entrepreneurial socialisation are the main barriers preventing young people from accessing institutional funding for their projects. By demonstrating the link between inclusive entrepreneurial socialisation and institutional funding for young project leaders, this study aims to propose a model for the new youth employment agency in Côte d'Ivoire.
