The Sinners’ Token

In Bellweather, mercy has a price. Silence costs more. When schoolteacher Agnes Bell arrives in the quiet village of Bellweather, she expects rainy days, watchful neighbours, and unruly pupils. She does not expect death. After a local woman is found dead, the village calls it tragedy. Then another death follows. Each victim had recently sought comfort from the beloved vicar, Father Christopher Vale. Each carried a private shame. And each, Agnes discovers, was connected to a small pewter token marked with one word: MERCY. As Agnes begins to question what others would rather leave buried, she uncovers a chilling pattern hidden behind confession, faith, and respectability. Father Christopher is not merely comforting troubled souls. He is using guilt as a weapon - and the tokens are his proof, his ritual, and his trophies. But the secret at the heart of Bellweather is older than the recent deaths. Years ago, a young woman named Mercy Vale died in silence. Her name should have meant forgiveness. Instead, it became something far darker. >Atmospheric, unsettling, and deeply gothic, The Sinners' Token is a historical mystery about shame, silence, and the courage it takes to speak for the dead.
