the Small Circle of Grand Forest Changes

The oracular book entitled "Yi Lin" (literally, "The Forest of Changes") comprises 4,096 dodecagrams and an equal number of verses, each explaining its meaning in the song-poetic form of ancient poetry. The verses accompany combinations of doubled 64 hexagrams from the Book of Changes (Yi Jing), known as "dodecagrams." >The Yi Lin is a poetic instigator of freedom. Therefore, its philosophical nature is unsettling for the powerful of the world. It is more suitable for a sage-hermit, poet, military leader, or strategist than for an ordinary bureaucrat in government service. The Han dynasty saw the rise of popular wisdom, or the poetry of change, which was associated with the names of Jiao Yan Shou and Cui Zhuan. It was, without a doubt, a product of collaborative creation. Besides the fact that this book is for those in whom a silent poet lives, divining on the sacred yarrow stalks, it will also be helpful for readers interested in issues of strategic planning and forecasting, as outlined in the oracular books of Yi Jing, Tai Xuan Jing, and Yi Lin so far.
