the Squirrel Between Trees: 1

What if fitting in meant hiding the part of you that felt most like yourself?Juniper loves gliding through the moonlit forest. But as she grows older, the other squirrels tell her that real squirrels climb, while the birds insist that real flyers have wings.Wanting desperately to belong, Juniper covers her gliding folds with a vest of leaves and tries to become someone her friends will accept. For a little while, it seems to work-but Juniper has never felt more alone. With gentle guidance from an older flying squirrel named Alder, Juniper begins to understand that failing to become someone else is not the same as failing. Now she must decide whether to keep hiding or open herself to the wind again. The Squirrel Between the Trees is a tender picture book about changing friendships, honest feelings, self-acceptance, and finding the courage to be fully yourself.
